Kayak Crisfield is now the exclusive rental outfitter for Crisfield’s popular tour-guide service, Chesapeake Story Tours (CST).
Joe Paden, founder/operator of CST is a 7th generation local and is renowned for his knowledge of history and his storytelling ability. He combines interesting factoids with humorous anecdotes and shares the stories in a salty, welcoming fashion.
Joe and his guides will show you hidden coves and creeks and can take you to places where you may find artifacts like arrowheads and colonial remains from centuries past.
Guided tours are available 7-days a week from sunrise to sunset, though it’s strongly recommended that guided paddling and cycling tours are booked in advance.
Standard guided tours (paddling or cycling) are 1.5-2 hours in length and cost $10 per person with a $50 minimum (not including rental fees).
Primitive Camping Trips
Joe also offers overnight primitive camping trips where you’ll paddle out to one of the barrier islands and crab, go oystering and fish, then cook your catch on the campfire.
There is no medicine available that can treat stress and anxiety like this trip can. Joe has stated that it’s not uncommon for adults to do some soul searching during these trips and discover what’s really important in life.
This is also an excellent way for parents to reconnect and bond with their children. These trips are truly special and can be a life-changing experience.
Overnight Primitive Camping Trips: $200 per person or $300 for two people sharing a canoe and tent. (Includes all gear and meals – must bring own sleeping bag).
Second Saturday Sunset Kayak Tours
The popularity of Crisfield’s sunsets is rapidly growing and on any given evening you’ll see photographers all over town capturing images of Crisfield’s scenic perfection. However, nothing compares to watching the sunset from a kayak floating at sea-level. This experience gives a whole new meaning to the word, “breathtaking.”
These tours are a lot of fun and run from May through October.
2nd Sat. Sunset Kayak Tour: $20 per person (includes kayak rental) / $10.00 (w/o rental). No minimum. All paddlers must bring a flashlight (cellphone light not acceptable).
